Gossamer
The images below are relief prints created by me during the last two years. All were carved and printed in my home studio, with the exception of Trillium and Anemone, which were printed on press in collaboration with Big Ink. The exercise of carving and printing by hand gives me an intimacy with the process, leads to imperfections and “roll with it” moments, and unexpected print happenings.
Expanding on these prints, I will develop imagery that refers back to historical textiles. From this imagery will stem a collection of fabrics, available for apparel and home decor, and also a series of fine art prints. I tend to make my blocks work for me as much as possible, printing them over and over in many different ways, from book covers to shirts to framed prints, and this collection will broaden that experience.
Two different ideas, creating works on paper and creating a series of commercially available fabrics. Using the same color palette and design ethos for these two directions to unify and strengthen them.
All work below is mine. Relief prints, 2020-2022. Click on each detail image for the full print.
